Nigeria has taken a significant step in modernizing its public service by launching Service-Wise GPT, an AI-powered assistant aimed at enhancing efficiency and streamlining government operations. This groundbreaking initiative was unveiled by the Head of the Civil Service, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, during the Global Government Summit 2025 held in Singapore.
What is Service-Wise GPT?
Service-Wise GPT is designed to simplify access to essential governance documents, including Public Service Rules, Statutory Instruments, and Regulations. The tool is currently in its Beta phase and focuses on user needs to improve public service delivery. Mrs. Walson-Jack emphasized that once fully operational, it will automate policy drafting and memo writing, significantly reducing the administrative burden on civil servants.
She highlighted that the tool aims to enhance productivity and facilitate faster decision-making across ministries.
She stated:
Applying Service-Wise GPT would save time and reduce administrative task hours for civil servants.
Impact on Public Service
Early trials of this AI tool have shown promising results. A recent study revealed that 73% of users saved 2–3 hours daily, with a remarkable 90% recommending the tool for its efficiency and accessibility. This feedback underscores the potential of Service-Wise GPT to revolutionize how government employees interact with public service regulations.
