Saudi Arabia is making a bold move on the African continent. The Kingdom has pledged a massive $25 billion investment in Africa over the next decade. Alongside this, Saudi Arabia will open more embassies in Africa, signaling a new era of partnership and presence across the continent.
The Kingdom plans to increase its network of embassies throughout the continent to over 40 in the upcoming years, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji, demonstrating Riyadh’s dedication to strengthening its ties with Africa.
Speaking at an Africa Day dinner held at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter, Al-Khuraiji announced that by the end of the decade, Saudi Arabia would secure an additional $5 billion in development funding for African nations and provide $10 billion in export financing.

$25 Billion Investment: Transforming Africa’s Future
Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan detailed the investment plan at the Future Investment Initiative New Africa Summit. He confirmed that Saudi private sector investments in Africa are expected to reach $25 billion within ten years. Already, $5 billion of these investments are underway, with projects spanning energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and more.
The Kingdom is not stopping there. Saudi Arabia has also committed:
- $1 billion for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Development Initiative in Africa
- $5 billion from the Saudi Development Fund for development projects
- $10 billion in financing from the Saudi Export-Import Bank for African businesses and projects
Embassies in Africa: Building Bridges for Business
The push for more embassies in Africa is designed to facilitate these investments. Saudi officials believe that a stronger diplomatic presence will help identify opportunities, resolve challenges, and accelerate project delivery. These embassies in Africa will serve as hubs for business, trade, and cultural exchanges, creating new channels for cooperation.
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan is at the heart of this strategy. The Kingdom sees Africa as a key partner in trade, energy, and development. The recent summit gathered leaders from Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Djibouti, Mauritania, Ethiopia, Niger, and Egypt. Together, they agreed to deepen cooperation and build a strategic partnership for the future.
A New Chapter for Saudi-Africa Relations
Saudi Arabia’s decision to open more embassies in Africa is more than a diplomatic gesture. It is a clear sign of long-term commitment. The Kingdom wants to be at the center of Africa’s transformation, supporting economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.
With $25 billion in investments and a wave of new embassies in Africa, Saudi Arabia is making its mark. The Kingdom is not just investing money—it is investing in relationships, opportunities, and a shared future with Africa.
