MTN Zambia Teams Up with Starlink to Boost Connectivity

MTN Zambia has officially teamed up with Starlink, SpaceX’s advanced satellite internet service, to revolutionize business connectivity across Zambia. This partnership designates MTN Zambia as an authorized reseller of Starlink, bringing high-speed, low-latency broadband to even the most remote corners of the country.

MTN and Starlink Expand Internet Access for Businesses

Through this collaboration, MTN and Starlink will offer Starlink Business packages, targeting rural, peri-urban, and underserved regions. The goal is to bridge the digital divide and empower businesses, institutions, and communities that have long struggled with unreliable or nonexistent internet access.

The move directly supports Zambia’s digital transformation agenda and aims to close the connectivity gap for enterprises, schools, and local governments.

Driving Digital Transformation Across Africa

The MTN and Starlink partnership in Zambia is part of a broader trend sweeping the African continent. The MTN Group has been actively collaborating with Starlink and other satellite providers, including AST SpaceMobile and Lynk Global, to explore various satellite broadband solutions.

These initiatives include enterprise-grade trials with Starlink in Rwanda and Nigeria, as well as ongoing discussions for further pilots in South Africa and other countries.

MTN and Starlink Leverage Low-Earth Orbit Technology

The MTN and Starlink alliance leverages low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, which orbit significantly closer to the Earth’s surface than traditional geostationary satellites. This proximity allows for faster speeds and lower latency, making it possible to deliver reliable, high-quality internet to areas previously considered unreachable.

For businesses, this means improved access to cloud services, e-commerce, digital payments, and remote work capabilities.
